What the … AllThingsD reports that Gawker Media has purchased the rights to the first 12 episodes of Game Center CX, dubbed them into English, and will be posting them on Kotaku starting next week. Apparently it was pretty cheap.
“Put it this way” says COO Gaby Darbyshire, “it was not an extravagant experiment to make. Surprisingly small.” Coulda made an even smaller investment and skipped the dub, real talk (if you want subs, Something Awful’s goons have been on that). This is the first step in an initiative to show more video on Gawker, etc., whatever, who cares, it’s officially licensed, translated Game Center CX.
Eric and I actually talked about trying to get the rights ourselves last year, but those talks stalled when we realized we don’t have any money.
